Fire/Burn Permits
Apply for a fire permit online and find the information you need before starting an open-air burn in the County.
Fire Permits
Fire permits are required year-round for all types of open burning in the County of St. Paul.
Open burning includes activities such as burning brush piles, burning in barrels or open pits, and other fires where smoke is released into the open air.
There is no fee for a fire permit.
County fire permits are issued online, so you do not need to visit the County Administration Office or the Town of Elk Point Office to apply.

You’ll receive an email confirming that your permit application has been received and will be reviewed.

Receive Your Permit
Once your application is approved, your Fire Permit will be emailed to you as a PDF attachment.
Fire permits are valid for 14 days from the date they are issued, so plan your burn accordingly.
Before You Burn
Once you have your Fire Permit, you must contact Bonnyville 911 Dispatch Service at 780-826-7446 before lighting your fire.
Approved Fire Permits are also subject to Provincial or Local Fire Bans. A Fire Ban suspends or cancels Fire Permits, so always check current fire conditions before you burn.
