Set Up or Transfer Water Service
County water service is available to eligible properties connected to the County’s water system.
If you need to set up a new account or transfer an existing water service into your name, contact the Utilities team for help with the application process.
Utility accounts are registered to the property owner. If the property is rented, the owner can request that bills be mailed to the tenant, but the owner remains responsible for the account and any charges.
Buying or Selling a Property?
Selling a Property
If you sell a property with County water utility charges, let the County know about the change in ownership so your account can be updated and you can avoid additional charges.
Buying a Property
If you’re purchasing a property, check whether County water utilities are already connected.
The Utilities team can help you:
- Transfer an existing water utility account into your name
- Confirm whether the property is eligible for a new water connection
- Explain what is required to set up your account
Under the Utilities Bylaw, a new property owner is required to apply for a utility account when ownership changes.
New Water Connections
Planning to connect a property to County water service for the first time?
New connections are subject to availability and must be approved by the County. You may be asked to provide information about the property, how the connection will be used, and other details needed to review your request.
The County installs and maintains the water service up to the service connection point. Property owners are responsible for the private water line and other water equipment on their side of the connection.
Contact the Utilities team before starting any work so they can confirm what is required for your property.
Think you might have a water leak?
If you suspect a leak, you can use your odometer to confirm. Perform a test by ensuring anything connected to the water mains is turned off (toilets, sinks, sprinklers, hoses, humidifiers, ice machines, drinking water filters, reverse osmosis devices, etc.) and watch the odometer to see if usage is still going up. If it is, please call the County office to request an appointment to have your meter checked.
