Agricultural Services
How can we help?
Managed by the County’s Agricultural Services Board
The County of St. Paul Agricultural Services Board (ASB) is a mix of County Councillors and Resident Members-at-Large who work to assess the needs and direction of the agriculture industry in the St. Paul Region. In doing so, the ASB guides the County on what agricultural programs and services to provide to residents to ensure the long-term sustainability of agriculture.
All ASB programs and services are based on Provincial legislative requirements, following the Agricultural Service Board Act, Weed Control Act, Agricultural Pest Act, Soil Conservation Act, and assisting with the Animal Health Act.

What should I do if I have a coyote issue?
If coyotes are causing issues on your property, your first step should be prevention. Remove any potential attractants like garbage, deadstock, pet food, or compost. Fencing, guardian animals, and noise or visual deterrents (such as motion-activated lights or scare devices) can also help.
If the problem persists, contact County ASB staff at 780-645-3006. We can provide advice and help assess your options. Use of poisons should be considered as a last resort; at this time, 1080 coyote bait is not available due to a product recall.
I have or see an issue with a beaver causing flooding into County infrastructure or my farmland—who should I contact?
If a beaver is causing issues such as flooding into farmland or County infrastructure, you have a few options:
- You may trap the beaver yourself if you're comfortable doing so.
- You can hire a licensed trapper to assist.
- You can contact the County ASB department at 780-645-3006 to report the issue or request assistance.
Whichever option you choose, it's important to be familiar with and follow all applicable Alberta Wildlife regulations and laws. Certain activities—like removing dams or dealing with beavers on public land—may require permits or additional approvals.
