Weed Control
Learn how the County helps identify and control noxious and prohibited noxious weeds, including reporting and private-property spraying support.
Weed Control
County ASB staff work with landowners to prevent and control the spread of noxious and prohibited noxious weeds in accordance with Alberta’s Weed Control Act.
Weed inspections are carried out by ASB staff from April through October. When a weed problem is identified, the County makes reasonable efforts to contact and work with the landowner on an appropriate method of control or eradication.
Report or Identify a Weed
If you see a noxious or prohibited noxious weed in the County, contact ASB staff:
Phone: 780-645-3006
If you need help identifying a weed, you can also contact a local crop input retailer, agronomist, or County ASB staff.
Need Help Controlling Weeds on Your Property?
Private landowners and occupants with noxious or prohibited noxious weeds on their property can contact the Agricultural Service Board to ask about County spraying assistance.
This service is provided at the landowner’s cost. Before any work begins:
- The landowner or occupant must sign a Permission to Enter Upon Lands to Control Vegetation Agreement.
- The County will provide an estimate of the cost for approval.
- Spraying is limited to no more than four hours, including employee travel time.
- A landowner can use the service once per year.
- Spraying can be stopped or refused if weather, temperature, terrain, or other conditions make treatment unsuitable.
